6 green New Year’s resolutions to save the planet

You can start the new year making a difference. How? Following easy and simple actions to do in your daily life

The beginning of each year is always a special time. It’s time to reflect on the past year, the things we have done, the goals we have achieved. This year has been difficult and unexpected, but it is important to see the positive aspect in everything. The goals achieved and the importance we give to the things that happen.

A new year has begun and it is often common to write New Year's resolutions. What do we want to achieve this year? What do we want to create or change in our life? We are here to help you make a difference with small and simple gestures that can not only improve your daily life, but also the health of the planet.

Remove plastic from your life

Have you ever noticed how much plastic you buy and how much you throw away? The next time you go to throw out the garbage, pay attention to the volume of plastic you produce (and we assume that you recycle!). Bottles of water, bags of frozen products, bottles of shampoo, and detergents.

Plastic bags are made of petroleum-based polyethylene and require 12 million barrels of oil to produce each year, a non-renewable resource that creates greenhouse gases.

This year start to pay attention to the products you buy. It will certainly not be possible to remove 100% of the plastic but start shopping consciously. Eliminate all the bottles of water, use tap water, and if it's unhealthy, look for a nearby place where they provide controlled water and fill your glass bottles. It's cheaper and you won't have to buy plastic bottles anymore.

Dry your laundry in the sun

That sounds like simple advice, right? But did you know that in the United States, in 2007, dryers emitted 54.72 million tons of carbon dioxide?

Think about the change it can make if everyone decides not to use the dryer even just once a week.

Therefore alternate the dryer with the clothesline. And if the day is too cold and the sun is not there, take your laundry inside your home and dry it near the radiators. This way you will save electricity and excessive CO2 production.

Avoid your car as much as possible

What would help our planet and protect the environment in a significant way is the decrease in gas emissions from cars and oil.

On average, transportation accounts for more than 30% of carbon dioxide emissions in the United States. Think of the benefits we have had over the past few months where most people have worked from home. There have been cities that have revised the color of the sky. Why not start this change right away?

Next time you need to make a short commute, go on foot or by bike.

Go paperless

At work, at home, try to use as little paper as possible. If you are in a meeting take notes on your laptop. When you have to write your shopping list, don't use countless post-it notes, use your phone notes, download apps or use online shared lists. You’ll save a lot of paper during the year, and you will also have the opportunity to have the list always with you and share it online with the whole family.

Moreover, you can use an online diary on your computer or phone. But if you can't help but write your appointments, buy a sustainable one with recycled paper.

Buy only the essential

Whether it's food, clothing, or other items, try to buy as few products as possible. When you go shopping, you often tend to buy a lot of food - especially fresh - which you then tend to throw away because it has expired or gone bad. It is important to try to plan all meals so you purchase only the essentials and the correct quantities of food.

Regarding clothes, shoes, or other accessories it is essential to ask yourself this question “do I really need it?”. If we aren’t sure of the answer we can avoid buying that garment. It’s time to rethink your closet creatively and reuse your clothes. You can rediscover clothes you've never worn.

Natede and Eteria

Make the difference

It is important to be aware that each of us can do something to improve the planet we live on. We all have the opportunity to make a difference, change a negative aspect, and lead more and more people to change their habits.

We, at Vitesy, firmly believe in the power each of us has to make a difference. Thanks to our collaboration with Eden Reforestation Projects we plant 10 trees for every product sold.

By purchasing Natede or Eteria, you will not only have a sustainable and technological air purifier, which allows you to breathe new and clean air. Together, we contribute to the fight against indoor pollution and to the protection of the planet.
