WEEE Guidelines

1.1 What is WEEE?

WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) is waste from electrical or electronic devices that depend on electric currents or electromagnetic fields in order to work.

Pursuant to Legislative Decree 49/2014, these products must be collected separately from other waste to ensure their correct and environmentally friendly treatment, recovery, and disposal.

1.2 What the law says

Current legislation (Legislative Decree 49/2014) requires manufacturers and distributors of EEE (Electrical and Electronic Equipment) to offer consumers a free collection service for old equipment when they purchase a new equivalent product. This system is known as "one-for-one collection (1:1)".

In addition, Ministerial Decree 65/2010 and Article 26 of Legislative Decree 49/2014 provide that customers may also return very small WEEE (i.e., WEEE with external dimensions of less than 25 cm) at points of sale, without obligation to purchase, provided that the point of sale has a surface area of more than 400 m².

1.3 WEEE collection methods

When purchasing a new EEE product, the user may request the free collection of the equivalent old equipment by selecting the option "WEEE - Collection of used equipment."

To ensure the service is successful, it is important that:

  • The product to be collected has the same function as the new product purchased;
  • The equipment is complete with all its essential components;
  • The collection takes place at the same address as the delivery of the new item;
  • The used product is ready and accessible for collection on the agreed date.

Vitesy reserves the right not to collect the product in the following cases:

  • if the device is missing essential parts;
  • if it poses a risk to the personnel responsible for transport (e.g., contamination or serious damage);
  • if the product is not equivalent to the one purchased.

1.4 Direct delivery to points of sale

Users may also choose to deliver WEEE directly to distributors. The methods vary depending on the size of the product:

  • For very small appliances (no side longer than 25 cm), free delivery is provided with no obligation to purchase at points of sale with an EEE surface area of more than 400 m²;
  • For products larger than 25 cm, delivery is provided on a "1 for 1" basis, only upon purchase of an equivalent product.

1.5 Specifications for our Product

Natede, Natede Smart, and Eteria products are household electrical and electronic equipment that do not contain batteries or accumulators.

As they are WEEE in all respects, they must be collected separately at the end of their useful life and disposed of:

  • to municipal recycling centers;
  • or returned to the distributor in accordance with the procedures described above.

The Shelfy Product (SHL0 and SHL2) falls into the category of small WEEE and contains a removable portable battery or accumulator.

In accordance with Article 9 of Legislative Decree No. 188 of November 20, 2008, which implements Directive 2006/66/EC, the user is required to remove the battery before returning the product for proper disposal.

How to do this:

Follow the instructions in the FAQs and in the warning manual  to remove the battery safely, or visit https://vitesy.com/faq/shelfy/battery/replace.

Once removed, the battery must be disposed of separately:

  • in the appropriate containers for used batteries located in the municipal area;
  • or at stores that sell portable batteries and accumulators.

1.6 Why is it important

Separate collection of WEEE and batteries allows:

  • prevent the dispersion of hazardous substances into the environment;
  • reduce risks to human health;
  • recover valuable materials, reducing the need for new resources.

The symbol of a crossed-out wheeled bin on our products and packaging indicates that these devices must not be disposed of with municipal waste. Improper disposal of the product by the user will result in the application of penalties in accordance with current legislation.
