As we spend most of our time at work, for many of us the office is like a second home. You can decorate your desk in many ways, but did you know that houseplants have an effect on your mood and the general feeling of overall well-being? Moreover, it’s established that plants boost our productivity at work.
Be more productive and eliminate indoor air pollution with plants!
The lack of airflow, especially at work, allows for indoor air pollution to build up and cause health issues like asthma or sick building syndrome (SBS). The sources of indoor air pollution at work are various: furniture, printers, cigarette smoke, cleaners and the ventilation system itself.
A plant is the best solution for you. It will embellish your desk and it will provide you clean air. You don’t have to worry about the artificial light, plants need it, no matter what kind.
1. Sansevieria Trifasciata
Commonly know as Snake Plant, it grows and prospers in any condition. Sansevieria is the ideal plant for beginners as is easy to maintain, it doesn’t require a lot of attention. This is why we have it in our office too?
Purifying properties: it eliminates Benzene, Xylene, Formaldehyde, Trichloroethylene, and Toulene from your office.
Care tips: we have our Snake Plant inside Natede and we put a glass of water in the self-watering system every 2-3 weeks. Allow soil to dry between waterings.
2. Spathiphyllum
Also know as Peace Lily, it’s easy to take care as it can be placed in dark places. What makes the Spathiphyllum so special is that is one of the few indoor plants that have beautiful leaves and flowers throughout the summer.
Purifying properties: it eliminates Formaldehyde, Benzene, Xylene, Toluene, Ammonia and Trichloroethylene from the environment.
Care tips: even this plant can grow in low office lighting. Sometimes you can even overwater it and this will not affect the plant.
3. Ficus Benjamina
It's know simply as Ficus Tree or Weeping Fig, it’s a little tree that needs bright position in the room. This is the ideal plant to place it in the corner of your office as it removes all the pollutants found in plastic, carpets, furniture wax and paint.
Purifying properties: it eliminates Xylene, Toluene, and Formaldehyde for your workplace.
Care tips: Ficus Tree requires a lot of light and it loves to have a humid environment. To keep a relatively high level of humidity spray the plant with some water and don’t over water it. This plant doesn’t like changes, so place it in a bright place and leave it there.
4. Aglaonema Modestum
We all know it as Chinese Evergreen, is an adaptable plant that tolerates low light and dry air, very common in offices. This is a nice plant to adorn your workplace with its nice and wide bi-color leaves.
Purifying properties: it eliminates Benzene and Formaldehyde for your air.
Care tips: caring for Chinese Evergreen doesn’t require many attentions. Moderate watering is the key: not too much, not too little. Pruning is not necessary.
